“A Journey of a Thousand Miles Must Begin With a Single Step"

Today begins my journey with The Women's Insight Project.  By taking this single step, I am starting down my path to....well I don't know where.  And that is exactly the point.  I don't know where this project will lead, what I will learn, or who I will meet along the way.  But even with this uncertainty and not knowing, I have begun.  I have taken the first step on my journey and I must say it feels great.

I have been thinking about this project for 7 months.  Why am I just starting now?  I don't know why.  Maybe a lack of self-confidence....thinking that I was the only woman that feels the way I do and that no woman could possibly relate to what I am struggling with; maybe fear that this would be another thing that I would start and quit; or maybe fear that I would actually complete this project and my vision would become reality.  I've come up with a million reasons to not start...to not take that first step.

My interviews have not yet begun and I've already learned something.  It's so satisfying to take that first step.  Any idea, any goal, any cause, any change begins with a single step.  By taking my first step with this project, I feel an overwhelming sense of empowerment and sense of accomplishment...two things I have not felt in a very long time.  This has given me the strength to take step number 2: tackling my first interview in February.  I've gained so much by taking this single step today, I can't wait to see what I learn from my first conversation.  Check back to see what I discover and how it may enlighten you.

What's your idea that you've been thinking about?  What's your goal you want to achieve?  What cause do you want to fight for?  What change do you want to make?  Why haven't you started yet?  I challenge you to take that first step.  It doesn't have to be big...just take a baby step toward what you've been thinking about. You don't have to have all the answers....you just need to start. You will find that it lifts you, it gives you strength, and it may make you realize that you have some control over your life's path on this short journey we call life.
